“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised” ~Luke 4:18

Okay, I admit it. I’m one of those people who love fireworks. I know, I know, the animals don’t like them, and fireworks can be loud and obnoxious. But I still enjoy them. I watch every year on July 4th and gratitude fills my heart that I am a free individual. Not just physically, but I’m free spiritually. I’m no longer bound by sin.

I’ve read this saying on different social media posts: “Freedom Isn’t Free.” And I wholeheartedly agree. Our country is living in freedom because of the numerous men and women who sacrificed to make it happen. However, this morning I am introspective that a high price was paid for my spiritual freedom. Jesus freed me, and He did so by offering Himself. And I’m so glad He did.

This holiday week, I pray that you find time to thank God for the tremendous freedom we have in Him.

Happy Independence Day!
